A Coil Bag is a style of tarp commonly used to protect steel or aluminum coils while being transported on a flatbed truck and trailer. Put simply, it is one rectangular tarp and two rounded tarps that are sewn together to create a cylinder shape. The top half of the tarp is fitted to match the shape of a coil allowing it to be slipped on and quickly secured with about eight bungee cords. The lower half of the tarp is box shaped and includes a hole on each side for the chains to pass through. This style of tarp can be used when the coil is loaded in either the suicide or shotgun position and will be slipped on before the chains are in place.

Our Coil bag with chain holes is made completely out of premium-grade 18.5oz polyester reinforced waterproof vinyl. The outer edge of the material is folded to create a two-ply thickness as heavy duty 2" polypro webbing is installed. Brass spur grommets are machine punched through this reinforcement webbing around the hem and in each corner of the rain flaps. One row of D-Rings wraps completely around the tarp and twelve additional D-Rings are strategically positioned around the seam. These D-Rings are reinforced with webbing and backstitched with our heavy-duty rot resistant polyester thread to ensure long life.

Coil bags are a fitted product and will quickly slip on and protect one size of coil really well. If used on a smaller coil, it will be difficult to properly secure the excess material and could shorten the life expectancy of the tarp. Because of this, when ordering, it is important to select the proper tarp diameter and width to fit the coil that is being hauled.
