Full Description

Traditionally Steel Tarps are available 2 ways (4' drop with flap or 4' drop without a flap). It will cover an 8' wide load that is 4' high on your trailer (8' + 4' + 4' = 16'). The industry standard for a 4' drop Steel Tarp is 16' wide by 25' long but we can make yours any size you want it. One 4' drop tarp without a flap is the normal order but some loads will require two and if you are hauling loads over 40'' long by 8' wide by 4' high load you will need to order two 4' drop tarps with a flap.

Steel Tarps built by Lookout Mountain Tarp are made completely out of 18oz polyester reinforced waterproof vinyl. Some sellers will use 14oz or 16oz on part or all of the tarp to keep the cost and weight down but our experience has been that a properly strapped 18oz tarp will last almost twice as long as tarps made of lighter weight material. Plus the 18oz material is thick enough that it can easily be repaired to as good as new should you get holes or rips in your tarp.

The outer edge of the tarp is folded over (hemmed) and a 2" webbing is double stitched in to reinforce the edges of the tarp. Brass grommets are machine punched through the center of the 2" webbing every 2' all the way around the outer edge of the tarp. On Steel Tarps with a flap 2 rows of webbing are double stitched into each side of the tarp (and the flap) with a dee ring back stitched in every 2'. You can get Steel Tarps without a flap with 2 rows of dee rings on the longs side or on with 2 rows of dee rings on all 4 sides.
